US State Department Travel Advisory for Israel, Iran, and the Middle East
The conflict between Israel and Iran has resulted in disruptions to travel and periodic closure of airspace across the Middle East. There is the potential for demonstrations against US citizens and interests abroad. The State Department advises US citizens worldwide to exercise increased caution. As of June 25, 2025:
The includes the following:
- The Israel Home Front Command has lifted all restrictions.
- The U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem will be open as usual on Wednesday, June 25. The shelter in place orders for U.S. government employees and their family members has been lifted.
- The Israel Airports Authority lifted restrictions on the number of incoming and outgoing flights, as well as the number of passengers on each flight.
- There are seats available on one-way departures via ship from Ashdod to Cyprus.
- Land borders are open, although each crossing has specific requirements and operating hours.
US citizens seeking to depart via air should check the availability of seats on El Al, Arkia, and Israir as they will be operating immediately. Given the demand for seats on flights departing Israel, we encourage US citizens to take advantage of available commercial options as they become available, although it may take some time to find seats available for purchase.

For individuals seeking assistance with departing Israel:
The Department of State has begun assisted departure flights from Israel. If you are a US citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident currently in Israel or the West Bank, and are seeking assistance in departing, please complete the following form to allow the State Department to better assist you and provide you with timely updates. https://mytravel.state.gov/s/crisis-intake. If you have already filled out this form, please do not complete a second form.

The Consular Affairs Office at the US Embassy in Jerusalem will resume limited in-person operations on Monday, June 23 to provide limited validity emergency US passport service to those without a valid US passport. They accept walk-ins (no appointment necessary) in both Jerusalem and Tel Aviv for those in line before 8:30 a.m. There will be no regular passport or Consular Report of Birth Abroad services.
