Help with a Federal Agency

Please read all of the following information carefully before submitting your casework request:

If you can't get an answer from a federal agency in a timely fashion, or if you feel you have been treated unfairly, our office may be able to help resolve a problem or get you the information you need. While we cannot guarantee you a favorable outcome, we will do our best to help you receive a fair and timely response to your problem.

Constituents can contact us for assistance in dealing with Federal agencies.

We require the following information in your Privacy Release Form. Failure to include necessary information may result in delays in your request for assistance.

  • Your Social Security number, if you have one.
  • VA claim number for a case with Department of Veterans Affairs;
  • Taxpayer identification number (Social Security number, if individual) for an Internal Revenue Service problem, etc.;
  • Your address, home phone number and daytime phone number (if different than home) so that we can obtain any additional information from you that might be necessary;
  • Copies of any related documents or correspondence that you may have from the agency involved;

USCIS has clear guidelines for the processing of applications, and the criteria that must be met by an applicant for consideration to expedite can be found here: Expedite Requests | USCISOur office cannot ask that your case be expedited, as you must communicate the issue directly to USCIS with supporting documentation. 

If you are outside normal processing times and have not heard from the agency, we are able to request information on your application. To view current USCIS Processing Times, click HERE.

Please keep in mind that USCIS has reported their processing times have been further delayed than usual. USCIS must fully research each case individually so that every petitioner and applicant may receive full and fair consideration consistent with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
