WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Pat Fallon (TX-04) authored a recent letter to Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin requesting a briefing regarding the Department of Defense's (DOD) hypersonic ground test facilities and supporting infrastructure. This request underscores the urgent need for the U.S. to strengthen its hypersonic weapon development capabilities amid escalating global threats. Rep. Fallon was joined on this letter by fellow Reps. Don Bacon (NE-02), Vince Fong (CA-20), and Doug Lamborn (CO-05).
"Yesterday's large scale Iranian missile attack on Israel, coupled with the ongoing defensive role of US forces in the Middle East should serve as a reminder that hypersonic missiles are playing an increasingly important role in today's conflicts," commented Rep. Pat Fallon. "US hypersonic weapon development is a critical modernization priority, particularly as our adversaries, such as Communist China, make significant advancements in this domain. For this reason, we have requested the DOD provide an update on our existing hypersonic capabilities, ongoing testing efforts, as well as how it plans to integrate advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence into future missile systems."
