Fallon Condemns Politically Motivated Troop Withdrawal

House Armed Services Committee Member Pat Fallon (R-TX.) released the following statement in response to President Biden's announcement that the United States would withdraw all U.S. troops from Afghanistan by September 11, 2021:

"Yesterday, President Biden announced that he intends to sacrifice our national security at the alter of politics by withdrawing our troops from Afghanistan without any consideration of the strategic ramifications.”

"We all want an end to the war in Afghanistan and pray for the safe return of our men and women in uniform. However, to do so based on a political timeline that all but ensures the nation will plunge into civil war when we leave is reckless.”

“With this decision we are running a serious risk of the situation devolving and unraveling into the chaos we have previously seen under the Taliban. All of the gains and stability we have fought so hard for could completely unravel in a matter of months.”

Pat Fallon represents Texas’ Fourth Congressional District, covering 18 counties across Northeastern Texas, including Bowie, Camp, Cass, Collin, Delta, Fannin, Franklin, Grayson, Hopkins, Hunt, Lamar, Marion, Morris, Rains, Red River, Rockwall, Titus, and Upshur.
